Enlisted at Monroe, Louisiana into Co. E. 12th Louisiana Infantry on February 22, 1862. In November and December, 1862 he was detached to assist the Regimental Surgeon. He returned in March, 1863. September to October, 1863 he was absent sick in a Confederate Hospital, but returned in November, 1863.
