The death of Richard H. Bakeman occurred early Friday morning at his home, on Franklin street. Mr. Bakeman had been in failing health a long time, his illness being due to the infirmities of age. The deceased was 78 years of age. He was born in Steuben County, but had resided in Phelps the past fifty years. His near survivors are three sons, Byron and Charles Bakeman, of Buffalo, and Wm. Bakeman, of Syracuse, and one daughter, Mrs. John B. Salisbury, who resides near Melvin Hill, south of Phelps.

Richard's paternal grandfather had the distinction of being the last known surviving veteran of the Revolutionary War, Daniel F. Bakeman, 1759-1869.
