Mattie Louise Herron Obituary


Mattie Louise Herron, 86, died Monday, January 1, 2007 at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. Services are 2 p.m.Thursday, January 4, 2007 in the chapel at Lakewood Funeral Home on Clinton Blvd. Visitation is 5-8 p.m.Wednesday and after 1 p.m. on Thursday. Burial is in Lakewood Memorial Park.

Mrs. Herron was an active member of Lifeline Baptist Church in Florence where she taught adult Sunday school until her health would no longer allow. A devout Christian Lady, Mrs. Herron spent much of her time reading the bible and living by the words she read. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family and all that knew her. Some of her other hobbies included gardening and sewing.

Two husbands, Orman Lowe and William Frank Herron, her son Gary Lowe, daughter Sue Soboleski, and four grandchildren preceded her in death.

Surviving Mrs. Herron are her children Phillip Herron and his wife Mary S. of Brandon, Thomas Lynn Herron of Vicksburg, Barbara L. Pugh and her husband Leroy and Norma Jean Thurman and her husband Thomas all of Florence. Also surviving her are her brothers Carroll Dean Lancaster of Columbus, and Joseph Lancaster of Carrollton, Ala., sister Hilda Burns of Glendale, Calif., nine grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren and a host of extended family.

LOWE, BARBARA ELAINE LOWE PUGH, ORMA SUE LOWE SOBOLESKI, WILLIAM PHILLIP HERRON, THOMAS LYNN HERRON, AND NORMA JEAN HERRON THURMAN.I WAS BY MY MOTHER'S SIDE WHEN SHE SLIPPED GENTLY OUT OF THIS WORLD INTO ETERNITY WITH HER HEAVENLY FATHER. SHE LOVED HER CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN. SHE ALWAYS MADE SURE THEY WERE FED AND ALWAYS MADE THEM FEEL AT HOME WHEN WE WERE AROUND HER. SHE WAS SUCH A LOVING AND GIVING PERSON TO EVERYONE SHE KNEW. MY SWEET MOTHER, I WILL MISS YOU TERRIBLY, BUT WILL REMEMBER ALL YOU HAVE DONE AND THE LOVE YOU HAD FOR YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS. SHE WAS A NURSING ASSISTANT BY TRADE AND LOVED WHAT SHE DID FOR OTHERS.SHE WAS VERY SMART AND COULD HAVE BEEN A PROFESSIONAL NURSE BUT SHE ALWAYS PUT OTHERS FIRST. SHE MADE BEAUTIFUL QUILTS AND DRESSES FOR ME AS I WAS GROWING UP. GOD BLESS YOU MOMMA,I LOVE YOU!!!
