Hiram is the son of Uriah Gaydon.
I found him in the 1870 Lumpkin County census records and he was 25 years old with his wife Elmira and a son James, 5 years old. He worked in the Gold Mines.
He served in the Civil War. He enlisted with his older brother William March 4, 1862 as a private. Captured at Vicksburg, Miss, July 4, 1863. Exchanged October 8, 1863. Roll dated December 31, 1863
He was buried in the Gayton Family Cemetery.
