Alfred was partial stock holder and manager of Marcella Falls Woolen Mills, Lawrence County, TN, upwards to 1300 acres of land. He was a natural born hydraulic engineer and mechanical genius. Helped in the building of the Charleston and Memphis railway, was stockholder. Built his own home, which still stands today in Marcella Falls Tennessee.
