Daughter of Samuel W and Frances M Fredrick Bear/Baer, Ada was their their eldest daughter and child, born in Illinois. She may have been named after President Abraham Lincoln, who was assassinated in April of the year she was born (10 Sep 1865).

The family was in the Colorado Territory by 1870, at which time Samuel is enumerated with his wife and children.

Her mother re-married in abt 1876 or 1877 to Richard L Toof; Ada is enumerated with them in 1880, along with her younger siblings and Lulu Toof, daughter of her mother and Richard L Toof. Lulu died shortly after the census was taken, causes unknown.

Ada was married to an Unknown Hyde sometime after 1880, possible in Colorado.

Ada married Stafford Hooper Dowdy Sep 30, 1899 in Spokane County, Washington. There is no evidence of any children born to them during their marriage.

They remained in Washington until after the 1910 census; they are found in Los Angeles County, California in abt 1915, recorded in the 1916 California Voter Registrations.

Ada was widowed in 1940 but remained in California, where she died in 1966.

Ada lived to be 100 years old.
