Margaret "Peggy" Williams was born nearby and lived on the Top of the Hill farm across the highway from Salem Presbyterian Church. She went to Hickory Grove High School, Mitchell College and Duke University School of Nursing. She went to work for Duke Hospital in the Operating Room and worked for Duke Medical Center for 47 Years and was an Operating Room Head Nurse when she retired from Duke. She had taught 2 generations of Nurses. She was the First Nurse at Duke to become a Certified Operating Room Nurse from the Association of Operating Room Nurses(AORN). She had 7 sons and 1 daughter and 14 grandkids and 6 great-grandkids.
She died from complications due to Parkinsons Disease.
