Frederick Maryland was originally named Frederickville. Original settlers of Frederick County included Boteler, Griffith, and Delashmutt families.

The surname of Delashmutt has many "modern" spellings. The original spelling is De'la' Chaumette, with origins in Portiers, Vinne Portou-Charrates, France.

The earliest reference we have to the De'la' Chaumett family is Etinne De'la Chaumette born @1525, Poiters Vinne, Portou-Charentes, France and his Consort* Catherine Bourthouneyron (*wife), born @1538, in France.

Their son was Jean De'la Chaumette I, born @1550 Portiers Inne, Portou-Charentes, France and his [only known] Consort, Thevna De'la' Charveillon, also of France, born @1552. They married on 01 August 1569, in Portiers France.

Their son, Jean De'la Chaumette II was born @1590, and died in @1653, Portiers Vinne, Portou-Charentes, France. His Consort was Suzanne Reynaud (Raymond) of Rochechaust, Haut-Vicnne, Lismousin, France.

Jean and Suzanne's son, Daniel De'la Chaumette Esquire was born on 11 August 1621, Portiers Vinne, Portou-Charentes, France and married @1645 to Marie Au'Courtier in La Suderie. de' Confolens, Charentus, France.

ALL dates above are per the Julian calendar. We continue to research this branch of what is our connection to Boteler and Griffith families.

Both stones, for Elizabeth and -- , are made of (soft) marble, which easily erodes with time. As a result both markers are severely eroded, and difficult to read. Elizabeth's stone is damaged with the "arched top" broken off, and the left side cut away. It is unknown why, or when, the portion was cut off.

Anyone with information on these families, or may be researching any of these lines, can contact me directly.
