ECLECTIC, Alabama -- Candice Hope Abernathy, 23, a resident of Eclectic, AL, was killed April 27 when a tornado destroyed her mother's home in Eclectic. Abernathy's body was found about 100 feet from where the home had been.

The body of her 5-year-old niece, Kammie Abernathy, was on the other side of
the road.

Candice Abernathy was an assistant manager at Advance America in Tallassee. She is survived by a husband and two young children, who were in the same home when the tornado struck.

Funeral services for Candice Hope Abernathy will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Brookside Funeral Home with Rev. John Brannon officiating. The interment will follow at Brookside Memorial Gardens.

Candice is survived by her husband Steven Richardson of Eclectic, AL, daughter Nora Grace Abernathy, son Eric Cooper Abernathy both of Eclectic, AL, parents Jerry Abernathy of Tallassee, AL, Dana Dunn of Eclectic, AL, sisters Alicia Marie Morgan of Montgomery, AL, Heather Dawn Abernathy of Knoxville, TN, Rainee Garrett of Tallassee, AL, brothers Heath Abernathy of Wetumpka, AL, Paul Abernathy of Titus, AL, Adam Abernathy of Wetumpka, AL, grandparents Shirley & David Justice of Titus, AL. Pallbearers will be Jerry Abernathy, Heath Abernathy, Adam Abernathy, Paul Abernathy, Wesley Justice, and Christopher Harrelson. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home. Brookside Funeral Home of Millbrook, Al directing.
