Mrs. Helena G. DeVore, 89, formerly of Springfield and widow of the late Hiram P. DeVore, died at 5 a.m. Thursday in the residence of a son, Paul R. DeVore, of 124 N. Hague Ave., Columbus, following 2 years of illness. Mrs. DeVore had resided in Columbus about 2 years.

A native of Springfield, where she was born, July 8, 1870, the daughter of Christian and Elizabeth Carmen Paul, she was the first child to be baptized in St. Bernard Church where she later became a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She also was a member of the Legion of Mary and the Third Order of St. Francis.

Her husband died in June, 1945

Survivors include her son, in whose home she died, a daughter, Mrs Catherine Maus of Hamilton, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. William Ward and Mrs Mary Gnau both of Springfield; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and a number of neices and nephews.

Her body was taken to the Conroy Funeral Home where friends may call from 2 p.m. Friday until time of services at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Bernard Church. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery.
