John G. Morris of Bedford, IN, died Monday, July 9, 2001, at Dunn Memorial Hospital. Born on May 7, 1928, in Tedders,, KY, he was the son of John and Rhoda (Tuttle) Morris. He married Rita Kay Magnus on July 2, 1960, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Bedford, and she survives.

Surviving with his wife are one daughter, Mrs. Scott (Karen) Weaver of Bedford, IN; one son, John G. Morris of Bedford, IN; one sister, Jewell Gilbert of Bedford, IN; two brothers, Willie Morris of Bedford, IN, and Tommy Morris of Michigan; one grandson, and one granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters.

He was a former maintenance mechanic for Indiana Limestone Company, retiring in 1990, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and American Legion Gillen Post No. 33.

Services for John Morris will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 12th, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholid Church with the Rev. Bernie Cox officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens with graveside military rites accorded by members of American Legion Gillen Post No. 33.
