She was born in Lida, Laurel County, KY. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marshal and Esther Lewis Sasser and two brothers, Marshal Sasser Jr. (Zada) and Harold Glenn Sasser.
She is survived by a beloved brother. Dr. Gerald Sasser (Dolores) of Louisville and dear sisters Carole Sasser of Lexington, Janice Sasser Osborne (Happy Sr.) of Lebanon, Ruby Riddle of Lexington, and Ruth Sasser Dillon of Montgomery, OH.
She is survived by devoted nieces and nephews, Jill Osborne Edwards, Laura Sasser Netherton, Teresa Sasser Wethington, Dr. Robert Sasser, Happy Osborne Jr., Mark Sasser, Jerry Sasser, John Osborne, and Dr. Douglas Dillon.
Many precious great nieces and nephews also survive.
Joyce spent her early years in Liberty, KY.
She attended Georgetown College, University of Kentucky, and Centre College where she trained for her life's work as
an elementary school teacher.
She taught school in Casey County, Camp Dick Robinson in Boyle County, Bald Knob in Franklin County, and Mortonsville and Pisgah in Woodford County.
She retired after teaching for more than 30 years.
