He was born in Sedro Woolley, Washington, and grew up in Everett, Washington. After graduating from Sequoia High School in Everett, he worked in the construction business. Michael served in the United States Army from November 7, 2006 until his death. He was assigned to the 6th Squadron, 9th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, based at Fort Hood, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Mellissa; 20-month-old daughter, Isis; his parents, Robert and Linda Baloga; two brothers, Jeremiah and Jacob Nydoske; two sisters, Linnea Baloga and Leah Valade, all survive Michael. His biological mother, Mary Neslund, preceded him in death.
