Anthony was a 2002 graduate of Clairemont High School. After working a variety of jobs, he joined the Army in March 2005. His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Purple Heart medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Parachutist's Badge and graduated with honors from Airborne Jump School. Corporal Bento died in Bayji, Iraq, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit using small arms fire, less than a month before he was to be sent home. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, based at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He is survived by his wife; their son; his parents; sisters; grandmother, grandfather, nephews and nieces; grandparents and numerous other friends and relatives. Anthony shares a crypt with his grandfather Junior Geitz.
