Sid was my dad's cousin. This is his obituary:

Sidney Truman Coutchie, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2008 at the age of 80. He is survived by his wife, Roena (Ronnie) Coutchie; children, Randy and Debbie Coutchie, Darla and Tom Mikita; grandchildren, Lindsay and Dan Mikita, Coral and Courtney Coutchie; brother, Gene and Sharron Coutchie; sister-in-law, Gloria Coutchie; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dale and Judy Conner, Merlin and Lola Conner; and many nieces and nephews. Sid was a longtime member of Burlingame Congregational United Church of Christ. He donated his services as treasurer, youth group director, choir member and teacher for many years. Sid enlisted in the Navy at the age of 17 and served six years as a Hospital Navy Corpsman during WWII. He married, began working in public accounting and later became the Chief Financial Officer of H.H. Cutler Company in Grand Rapids for the next 45 years before he retired. He loved planning annual vacations for his family that would be both educational and recreational. Other relaxing times found him at his vacation home near Hardy Dam for nearly 15 years. Later, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren on the small lake where they lived. Sid and Ronnie loved their second home in Bradenton, FL where Sid was the treasurer of his golf league and a member of the Barbershop Quartet. His hole-in-one plaque was his treasure, which he kept mounted in his home. The love of his life was his wife, Ronnie. He adored her and truly enjoyed every moment they spent together. When Ronnie was happy; so was Sid. His greatest gift was helping others whenever he could. His smile was memorable to all that knew him. If someone needed a helping hand, they knew who would be there for them. He has given so much to so many. He will always be remembered. Funeral services will be held Thursday 11:00 a.m. at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville), 4145 Chicago Dr., with Rev. George Miller officiating. Interment Grandville Cemetery. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Brookcrest Christian Nursing Home or Hospice of Michigan. Relatives and friends may meet his family at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9:00 p.m. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the Staff at Brookcrest Nursing Home and Hospice of Michigan for the love and care given to Sid during his year and a half stay in the dementia care area. Every individual in the department deserves a special thank you for their heartfelt care and devotion. Condolences may be sent online at www.mkdfuneralhome.com. Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf
