Killed in the crash of a KC-130 fueling plane. Dan was smart, handsome and had a bright future with a new wife and a baby on the way, but he ended his life doing what he loved - flying. He was remembered from when he was a Irmo High School JROTC member his freshman, sophomore and junior years as being on the wrestling team and voted best looking in his senior class. He brightened up the room every time he came in. He was a superb athlete and handsome but never a braggart. He was one of the kindest souls you'll ever meet. Dan is buried at Bush River Memorial Gardens, Irmo, South Carolina AND Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia. This is not an unusual occurrence in the crash of aircraft where more remains are later found.
