Thoroughbred Race Horse. He was best known for winning the 2001 Kentucky Derby in the second fastest winning time in the race's history. He was sired by Maria's Mon and as a two year old in training, was purchased by John C. Oxley for $170,000 on the advice of trainer John Ward. He made quite an impression in his first major win at the Florida Derby in 2001 and followed it by winning the Kentucky Derby two months later. In the other Triple Crown races that year, he finished sixth at the Preakness and third at the Belmont. At the Belmont, he sustained a hairline fracture to his right knee and he was ruled out for the rest of the season. He tried to race again the next year, but another injury forced him to retire. He retired to Claiborne Farm where he sired several successful foals. He later went to Nuckols Farm in Midway, Kentucky. He passed away after undergoing emergency surgery to repair an intestinal rupture.
