Andrew Thomas 'Tom' Self is the son of James William 'Billy' & Eliza Jane (Hood) Self. He is the husband of Mary Frances (Wright) Self.
Together they raised nine children. Their names in order of age are, Nora Almyra, Robert David, Sarah Mell, Dolly Mae, William Dolphus, Jesse Lorene, Harley A, Mary Belle & Bessie Magnolia.
Tom was known for the peanut patch he always grew each year and would sit for hours in the cold days of winter in front of his wood stove, visiting with 'company', eating roasted peanuts. As the peanuts were eaten the shells were thrown into the stove to burn and glow 'til they crumbled into the ashes.
He could 'whittle' anything he put his mind to. One item was a wooden chain, made so the links were loose and open.
He is remembered with fondness and love by all that knew him, family and friends alike.
