Katherine (Scott) Snow moved to Wayton, Arkansas with her husband Wiley Snow, (whom she married in DeKalb County, Tennessee on May 15, 1850).
It's written in the old Snow Family Bible that "Wiley Snow started to the Arkansaw the 18 day of October 1881"

She is the daughter of Elijah John and Phebe Scott.

Katharine is the mother of six children, Matilda, Jasper, Howard, Matthew, James and Melissa.

She passed away September 12, 1898 and was buried beside her husband in the Snow Cemetery, Wayton, Arkansas.

It is quite possible that she was the second person to be buried in this cemetery since she passed away only five years after her husband, Wiley, who was the first buried there.

Katherine's stone was purchased by her great, great grandchildren.

My great great grandma's stone has her first name as Katharine. All the records I've found with her name has her first name spelled as 'Catharine', two of these being her marriage license to gr gr grpa Wiley and her Civil War pension application. I'm inclined to believe that 'Catharine' is the correct spelling of her first name.

Your tombstone stands among the rest;
neglected and alone
The name and date are chiseled out
on polished, marbled stone

It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn
You did not know that I'd exist
You died and I was born.

Yet each of us are cells of you
in flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
entirely not our own.

Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
one hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
who would have loved you so.

I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
and come to visit you.

NOTE:the date of death on my gr gr grma's stone is the date the family has always used but she was still alive in 1910. She shows up on the census that year living with her daughter, Martha Taylor, (Isham Taylor household). For now I'm leaving the date as is. Bev 08.30.2017
