Martha is the daughter of Pleasant Loftis and Mary 'Garrison' Loftis. She was born in either Tennessee or Missouri.

She married Jonce Youngblood and together they had two children: William Joseph 'Joe' Youngblood (M. Julie Winters) born in 1870 and Mary Eveline Youngblood (m. Jasper Snow & Righter Skaggs)born in 1869 and James Henry Youngblood, born 1871.

After Jonce passed away Martha married John Garrison. They had one child together: Susie Garrison (m. William 'Will' Hicks) born 1883.

John had children from a previous marriage that he and Martha reared together.
