George, 78, of Folsom passed away Saturday in Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

A lifelong South Jersey resident, he owned and operated Wilkens Auto Repair. He was honored by the Hammonton Chamber of Commerce in 1975 and 1979 for his work as a mechanic.

George was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War, where he attained the rank of CD3. He was a member of the American Legion F.A. Funston Post 186, the VFW, the DAV Chapter 66, all in Hammonton and he was also a member of the National Rifle Association.

Predeceased by his brother, Peter Wilkens, George was survived by his wife, Phyllis Wilkens (nee Giannini), his children, Steven A. Wilkens, Sr and his wife Lorie, Debra Grasso and Lester Keller, Shirley Wells and John Armstrong, Carolin Sacco and her husband Bruce, Kenny Wilkens and his wife Sherri, his grandchildren, Lesley Wright (Bryan), Matthew Grasso (Kristy), Steven A. Wilkens, Jr., Amanda Grasso, Liza Johnston (Ben), Stephanie Wells, David Sacco, Danielle Wilkens, Michael Sacco, Paul Keller and his great grandchildren, Bryan, Brody and Brayden Wright, Ella and Lila Johnston, Taylor Grasso; his brother, Joseph L. Wilkens, Jr and his wife Marie and his sister, Patsy Manz and her husband Lester and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral Services at the Carnesale Funeral Home, 202 S. Third St., Hammonton. Burial in Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery, Estell Manor, New Jersey.
