JOHN D. DAUGHERTY DIES IN SULLIVAN
was One of Moultrie County's Oldest Citizens, Being 92 Years of Age.

SULLIVAN. April 21 - John D. Daugherty, Sullivan's oldest resident died in his home in South Hamilton street Saturday morning at 10:1[5?] o'clock after several months' illness caused by the infirmities of age. He was 92 years of age. Mr. Daugherty was born in Fort Royal, Warren County, Ia., in 1820(3) and came to Moultrie county in 1854, locating in Whitley township where he engaged in farming and where he resided until 189[?], when he came to Sullivan. In 1870 he was married to Miss Elizabeth Waggoner of Moultrie county. To this union were born three children, one of whom, Miss Anna, is living.

Mrs. Daugherty died in 1889 and his second marriage was to Miss Ada Kenshaw of Shelby county in 1901, who died in 1906. To this union was born one child, Miss Margaret, who with her sister Anna, so tenderly cared for him in his declining years. He was a member of the old school Baptist church, having united with that denomination in 1863. Besides his two daughters he leaves one brother, Laban Daugherty of Leota, S. D., who has been with him since last September and two sisters, Miss Sina Daugherty of Sullivan and Mrs. Margaret Craig of Garden City, Mo.

Funeral services will be held Monday morning at nine o'clock in the residence, conducted by Elder E. D. Elder. Burial will be in the Waggoner cemetery in Whitley township.
