I, J. Wathen, manager of this memorial, am Clark's 1st cousin, 4x removed. His aunt, Isabelle (Mapps) Powell, is my 3rd great-grandmother.

The Star-Journal, Warrensburg, Missouri, Tuesday, 3 April, 1934, page 3, column 5:

Jesse Bower and Misses Ida and Ava Bower received news Thursday noon of the death of their brother, Clark Bower, at his home near Boonville after a lingering illness. They left immediately for his home. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Surber took them, returning Friday. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon with burial in Boonville.
