I, J. Wathen, manager of this memorial, am Byron's 1st cousin, 4x removed. His aunt, Isabelle (Mapps) Powell, is my 3rd great-grandmother.

The Star-Journal, Warrensburg, Missouri, Tuesday, 29 December, 1925, page 5, columns 6 and 7:

Byron F. Bower died at the Bower home on Main street December 117 [papers error], 1925 after an illness of two weeks with heart trouble. He was born June 6, 1850 at Joliet, Ill. In 1877 he was married to Miss Emma S. Barrett. She died twelve years ago. Mr. Bower made his home in Kansas City until two years ago, he came to Holden to make his home with his brother and sisters. He was a fine man and everyone liked him. He was energetic, always busy. He took great pride in his flower garden that he had every summer. He was out in the yard when he took ill. He leaves to mourn his death, two brothers, Clark Bower and Jess Bower. Two sisters, Ida and Ava Bower of Holden, other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral was held last Saturday afternoon at two-thirty at the Bower home. Services were in charge of Rev. J. C. Needless of Drexel. Interment in Holden cemetery.

Clark Bower Jr., of Boonville attended the funeral of his uncle Saturday afternoon.
