Miss Bower was born May 10, 1860 in Joliet, Ill. On April 5, 1965 the family moved to Holden and with the exception of a few years spent in Kansas City, she lived this number of years in the same location. The family home has been a favorite gathering place for their many friends. During the last ten months, three members of the family have died, the others being Clark, who lived near Boonville and died in March, Miss Ava on July 13 and Miss Ida of recent date. Only the one brother, Jesse Bower remains.

In early life, Miss Ida professed faith in the Lord, and was a most ardent worker in the Aid and other actives of the Methodist church. Some 15 years ago she lost her vision, nevertheless she remained a great help to other members of her family who were also afflicted. During these years of darkness she was of most cheerful disposition and took a great interest in all her acquaintances.
