Sugar was the first dog that I lived with that made me realize why people abandon their pets. She was THAT bad. She came to the farm and soon became the alpha. She bossed the two older, bigger dogs horribly. They allowed it, and there was no changing the pecking order. She and I constantly fought for dominance. After Allan died, she became my co-pilot and constant companion. In the feeder truck, in the tractor, anywhere I went, she went. Or she thought that she should. She would fling herself at the picture windows when I left her in the house. She was not alone, she had Ty, Lucky, and Rocky the cat. When we left the farm, she continued to be my co-pilot. Sugar had some serious health issues for the last few years, and every day was a gift. She left us very peacefully. It shouldn't have been a shock, but it still was.
