Robert Lloyd Drake Jr. died Nov. 3, 2011, at home. He was 65.

A private family ceremony will be held.

Robert was born Nov. 25, 1945, in Dayton, Ohio, to Bernice Houchins and Robert L. Drake. He lived in Ohio until he came to Nevada City in 1987.

He graduated from the University of Cincinnati, was an accomplished businessman, CPA and a member of the National Guard.

Robert was part owner of his family's business, The R.L. Drake Company, in Miamisburg and Franklin, Ohio. He was also the owner of Wiley's Bar in Nevada City and Taylor-Drake Furnishings in Nevada City. He made many contributions to Nevada City and to the ones who loved him. He will be missed.

Robert is survived by his son, Edwin A. Drake; daughters, Rachel E. Drake-Benner, and Laura M. Drake-Connor; brother, Dr. Thomas Drake; sister, Nancy Peterson; grandchildren, Ryan, Jonathan, Daniel, Allison and Eli; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial gathering is scheduled for 5:30-7:30 p.m. today at the Miners Foundry.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Robert L. Drake, Jr. Memorial College Fund for his grandson Eli Ryan McNerlin at Tri Counties Bank, Nevada City, CA 95959.

Arrangements are by Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
