Manley Knight
Manley N., son of Edwin and Lizzie Knight, was born in Hartland, Marshall county, Iowa, January 16, 1889, and God called him home June 30, 1903. Age 14 years 5 months and 14 days.
He was converted at the age of 9 years, and united with the M. E. church at Strawn, Kansas. His parents moving with their family to Emporia four years ago, he then united with the Friends church where he has continued a loving and faithful member. He was the oldest member of the Junior Endeavor. Manley's life was a beautiful Christian example. He had been employed at the Model Clothing Store for more than a year, and was loved and trusted by his employers. Though young in years he was dearly loved by all who knew him, always wearing a bright smile of contentment and happiness. He spoke of being anxious to save enough of his earnings to purchase a bible for one of his less able companions. During his last illness he only asked that it might be as easy for the loved ones here, for him to go as to was for him. His last message to his friends and companions was: "Tell them all I have prayed for them, and want to meet them in heaven."
