Mrs. Anna Ramsey Succumbs Here

Mrs. Anna Ramsey, 92, a native of this vicinity, died at 5:30 o'clock last night at a local nursing home where she had been a patient two months. She had been in declining health about two years.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Sunday at the Stanton & Stanton chapel. The Rev. Harold Roberts, pastor of the First Christian church, will officiate. Burial will be in the family lot in the Doniphan cemetery.

A daughter of Isaac H. and Polly Agee Martin, Willie Anna Martin was born March 23, 1857 in Buchanan county, Missouri. When she was a small girl her parents settled in Doniphan county near the town of Geary.

Nov. 23, 1881 she was united in marriage to William H. Ramsey at Doniphan and they went to housekeeping in the community. Mr. Ramsey died in 1844. [Note: Date is newspapers error. He died in 1884.] After her husband's death Mrs. Ramsey kept house for her father and later for her widowed son-in-law, Will Ankrum of Doniphan. She reared her two granddaughters, Mrs. Harold Shaw of Muscotah and Mrs. Sterling Ladwig of Atchison.

Mrs. Ramsey lived a life of devoted service in her family and community and was highly regarded by a large number of friends.

Surviving in addition to her granddaughters are two sisters, Mrs. Bell Drummond, Atchison route 2, and Mrs. Cora Capp, St. Joseph route 6, and four great-grandchildren. Her daughter, Alma Ramsey Ankrum, died in 1906.
