Rush was my kitty cat. My grand kids found him in the woods behind their house. He was tiny and not big enough to eat. They ask the people that lived around them if he belonged to them. They couldn't find who he belonged to so they took him home with them. Their Dad wouldn't let them keep him and made them take him back to the woods. Later they came to my house and was still upset over the kitten. I told them to go home and get him and to go to the feed store and get me a tiny bottle. He spend 1 night in my garage and by then he had stolen my heart. He moved into the house and that is where he stayed. In 2003 when I moved to my son's house he went with me. My son's wife didn't like cats so he had to stay upstairs in my room. The first part of 2006 he began to get sick. I took him to the vet several times. They gave him a blood transfusion but it didn't last but 2 days and he was back to where he was before. I had them run more test and a large tumor was found on his liver. The vet said he might not survive surgery. I could either have him put to sleep or take him home and let him go. He never seemed in pain. He lived 1 week and slipped away about lunch time. He died on a Wednesday and I brought him back to Lavaca (my home) on Friday night. - originally written by the late Patsy Steele (1943-2020)
