About Bruises, my husband and I just moved into a new house. My parents were visiting that weekend. They told us a horrible story about finding the feral neighborhood cat dead on the road before leaving. To make this story worse, she had just had kittens a few days before. They looked for the kittens but did not hear or see them. Mom said she suspected they were in the wood pile but could not pull the logs off in fear of a collapse. After visiting for the weekend, they retuned and went directly to the wood pile to find one diluted calico and two gold (tan really) kitties waiting for them. They found their way out! They didn't even have their eyes open yet. My parents spent the next weeks feeding with an eye dropper and syringe. I picked the calico sight unseen. She got her name from her grey patches that looked like bruises.

I'm not sure if it was Bruises rough start to life but she was feisty. For no reason she would sneak up and slap you. And don't point at her. She could be in the other room and if you pointed, she would make a beeline for your finger, sometimes biting. But she had a gentle side also. At night she would sneak around and try to suck on my collar.

We had outdoor cats at my parents home but Bruises was my very first cat that was "all mine".

She lived 15 years 7 months 1 day
