Son of Everett and Pauline W. Banta; born September 9, 1893 at Lake Cicott, Cass County, Indiana. Occupation: Farmer. Enlisted in Ohio National Guard, 3rd Regiment on June 19, 1916 at Dayton, Ohio. Served on the Mexican border in 1916. Re-enlisted following the Declaration of War by United States against Germany. Served with Company I, 148th Infantry. Went overseas, wounded in action on September 28, 1918 at Montfaucon, France, and died October 1, 1918. Died at age 25 years, 22 days.
