George ‘Tom' Beckley

ROYAL CENTER — Services for George "Tom" Beckley, 78, Royal Center, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Harrison-Metzger & Rans Funeral Home, Royal Center Chapel.

He died at 11:35 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

Born Aug. 19, 1930, in Cass County, he was the son of the late Dwight and Hildreth Backus Beckley. On June 5, 1955, he was married to Judith J. Leffert, who survives.

He was a 1948 Lucerne High School graduate, a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of Baptist Christian Church and American Legion Post 418, Walton, and a 50-year member of the Royal Center Masonic Lodge 585. Tom was an avid golfer, a Pioneer sports fan and a Chicago Cubs fan.

He was a former barber in Royal Center and a former bookkeeper for Producers Marketing, Logansport. Tom was co-owner of Jim Kitchell Insurance Agency in Logansport, where he was employed for 42 years, retiring in 1999.

Surviving are his wife, Judith J. Beckley, Royal Center; daughter, Christy Park and her husband, Ron, Tippecanoe; and sisters, Jean Todd, Indianapolis, Joan Shepard, Westfield, and Nancy Anderson, Indianapolis. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Pastor Richard Utterback will officiate at the services. Burial, with military rites, will be performed at Indian Creek Christian Cemetery, Lucerne.

Friends may call 4 to 7 p.m. today at Harrison-Metzger & Rans Funeral Home, Royal Center.
