{{William L. Carter Dead Near House Mountain - William L. Carter, one of the old citizens of Buffalo district, died Saturday morning, March 19th at his home just south of House mountain. He celebrated his seventy-ninth birthday February 1st. He had for several years been an invalid. Mr. Carter was a blacksmith by trade and for a time during the Civil War served the Southern Confederacy in its shops. Most of his after life was devoted to farming.

His wife, who before marriage was Miss Potter, preceded him to the grave. He left seven children, John R. Carter, Mrs. Kate Moore, Mrs. Ella Swisher, Thomas, Lewis and Charles Carter.

Mr. Carter was a communicant of the Northern Methodist Church. He was buried Sunday afternoon in the cemetery at Collierstown, Rev. J. K. Parker of the Presbyterian Church, officiating at the services.}}

William lived to age 79.
