A celebration of life for Charles W. Makare, resident of Carson City for the past 13 years, was held at FitzHenry's Chapel of Faith in Carson City, NV.

Charles William Makare was born December 27, 1912 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, to Casimir and Agatha Kudirka Makare. He died May 20, 2003 at the Nevada Cares Retirement Home in Carson City.

Charles graduated from Illinois University with a Bachelor of arts degree in accounting and nearly earned a doctorate degree in music from Northwestern University. Prior to living in Carson City he lived in Fairfield, CA.

Charles Makare was a member of the Musicians Union for 70 years. He was a member of the Catholic Church.

Charles Makare was a professional musician for more than 40 years. He also worked as an accountant and as a teacher. He played Bass in the Sacramento, Napa and Vallejo Symphonies. He played the Electric Bass for The Generation Gap Band which played for senior centers and many social events in the Carson City area until 1997.

While working as a Music Teacher for the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District, Mr. Makare spoke to the Fairfield-Suisun Fine Arts Council about his passion for teaching stringed instruments to students. Mr. Makare's enthusiasm apparent, they agreed to sponsored the program. Soon Mr. Makare had put together the Crystal Strings Ensemble. He proudly showcased the students quickly learned talents, often having them play for events around the area.

Charles hobbies included playing Bass, Watercolors and Stained Glass.

Charles William Makare is missed by his loving family & friends, all of his music students and the many people he entertained with his music.

Among his survivors are his daughter, Pauline Bailey, of Gardnerville; son, George (Leslie) Makare, of Carson City; four grandchildren: Jerry Makare, of Reno, Deborah Martinez, of CA, and Charles and Douglas Sanborn, of IL; and great-grandchildren: Kristine, Steven and Heather, all of Reno, and Derek and Damon, of CA.

Charles William Makare was laid to rest in the Lone Mountain Cemetery, Carson City, NV.
