Succumbs in Flora
FLORA — Mrs. Mae Gibbs,
81, of Flora, died at 5:25 p.m.
Sunday at her home following
an illness of several years.
Born in Carroll county on Aug.
15, 1882, she was the daughter
of Benjamin and Sarah Essert
Aikens. Her marriage on March
11, 1903 was to Charles Gibbs,
She was a member of the
Flora Christian church and the
Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include her husband,
and a brother, Bert Aikens, of
Cutler. Six sisters and a brother
preceded her in death.
She had resided in Flora since
1938, moving there from Geetingsville.
Funeral services will be held
at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the
Flora Christian church with the
Rev. Milton Craig officiating.
Burial will be in Maple Lawn
cemetery.
Friends may call at the Leiter
funeral home in Flora after 7
p.m. Monday and at the church
an hour prior to rites. The OES
will have services at 8 p.m.
Tuesday at the funeral home.
