SPEIGHT, JR., Walter Peterson passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2009, at Alive Hospice. Walter lived life royally and gave of his heart to all who knew him. He attended Woodmont School, Hillsboro High School and graduated from George Peabody College in 1960. That July he moved to London, England, where he spent 15 years in the advertising and publishing fields. He returned to Nashville and retired from service to the State of Tennessee in 1997. He spent the next 12 years enjoying his passion of refinishing furniture and buying and selling antiques. Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Kate and Walter Speight. He is survived by, and was adored by, his brothers, Richard Speight (Barbara) and Bill Speight (Jill), and by his sisters, Kitty Pentecost (Mike) and Nancy Speight. He was especially loved by his nieces and nephews, Barby White (Govan), Lindy Thompson (Page), Richard Speight, Jr. (Jaci), Ashleigh Speight, Wes Speight, Daniel Pentecost, Sarah Pentecost, and Cameron deZevallos Kennedy (Brad), and by his many great-nieces and great-nephews, and his life-long friend and devoted cousin, Lionel Lackey of Charleston, SC.
