Religious Leader. Served as Bishop of the Episcopal Church in the Diocese of Los Angeles from 1895 to 1928. A graduate of Williams College in Massachusetts, he led the L.A. Diocese during a tremendous amount of growth. He was active in civic affairs for many years, and his death was front page news.
