Musician. Saxophonist Cornelius Bumpus began his musical career at age 10, playing alto sax in the school band in Santa Cruz, California. He was a member of the Doobie Brothers for over 20 years and played with Steely Dan since 1993. He died while aboard an airplane en route from New York to the Bay Area, California.
