Lotus Barker was born July 10, 1964 in Ashland, Kentucky, a daughter of Betty Atkinson of Zanesville, Ohio, and the late Raymond Atkinson. She was a former clerk with Chevron in Flatwoods and a member of the Wildwood Baptist Church in Ashland.
Additional survivors are her loving husband; one daughter; and two brothers.
When Lotus found out she had cancer, it was a very difficult time. The doctor came in and said you have lung cancer, it's inoperable and terminal. That is a lot to take at once for anyone. But she faced it like she did everything else. One day at a time. She worried more about everyone else then she did herself.
She had never been to the beach so when we found out the first thing we did was go to the beach. She loved it. Lotus lived six months after she found out. On the back of her stone I had her and her dog Bootsie walking on a beach. I am so proud that I could call her my wife and my best friend. Till we meet again!
Lotus's oldest brother Kendrick Atkinson of Wurtland passed away 1/19/2006 at his home. he was 46.
