He was a farmer his entire life in Berks Co., PA, owning two farms. He also distilled and sold rye whiskey. He was the son of John Adam Katterman and Anna Maria Lebo Katterman. He was the husband of Calina "Carolina" Walborn Katterman, interred beside him, and the father of Meldarina Katharina Katterman Klopp who is interred at the United Brethren "Little White" Church in Mt. Aetna, Berks Co., PA.
