Joseph Jerome Novak was born in 1953, son of Cyril Laverne "Bus" Novak and Mary Lucille Swett-Novak. Grandson of Cyril Celestine Novak & Maude Agnes Kessler-Novak, and Orville Swett & Nina Grace Evans-Swett. Joe and his siblings grew up on the same farm as his father and grand-parents.
In 1971, Joe graduated from Diagonal High School, and attended Northwest Missouri State College in Maryville, Missouri.
In 1976, Joe married Peggy Hughes and they had three children, a son and two daughters. In 1995, Joe married Margaret Scott. Joe had worked for WalMart as a Field Services Coordinator which required him to travel the country, a job he really loved.
