---Paul James Bragg, 60, of LaPlata died at 11:55 Friday night (Oct. 1, 1982) in Grim-Smith Hospital, where he had been a patient only a short time. Death was unexpected and attributed to an apparent heart attack.
---Born Sept. 14, 1922 at Gibbs, he was the son of Winfred Edward and Nora Jane Hayes Bragg. On July 2, 1947 in Fort Madison, Iowa, he married Veva Speaks who survives. Also surviving are two sons, James Bragg of Independence and Tony Bragg of Queen City; two daughters, Becky Bragg of Kirksville and Mrs. Bert (Cindy) Randall of LaPlata; five grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Max (Grace) Laird of rural Hurdland.
---He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson.
---Mrs. Bragg was reared in the Gibbs community, where he attended school. He was a graduate of the Brashear School. For 34 years, Mr. Bragg was a rural mail carrier for the Gibbs and LaPlata area. He retired in January 1981.
---During World War II, he served with the United States Army from 1942 until 1946. During his military career, he served in the European Theater.
---Mr. Bragg was a member of the Reynolds-Martin American Legion Post 282; Rural Mail Carriers Association and the LaPlata Coyote Hunter Association.
---Funeral services will be held at 1:30 Monday afternoon (Oct. 4, 1982) in the Pollock Funeral Chapel, LaPlata. The Rev. Archie Cooper of Kirksville will conduct the services. Music will be provided by Trudy Pollock, singing, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "How Great Thou Art." She will be accompanied by Rosina Berry, organist. Burial will be in the LaPlata Cemetery with military rites at the graveside.
---Bearers will be: Clinton Steele, Raymond Gross, Lavon Eitel, Lloyd Demory, Lloyd Self and Cleophaus Kautz.
