Abner Bragg, Circuit Clerk, Dead at 58
---Circuit Clerk, Abner E. Bragg, 58, of 1511 S. Lewis died Monday night at 11:55 in a Kirksville hospital where he had been a patient since Saturday afternoon when he suffered a heart attack.
---Born Jan. 22, 1917 in Adair county, he was the son of Robert E. and Bessie Newman Bragg. On Nov. 26, 1950 he married Evelyn Wilson who survives. Also surviving are four children, Jack Bragg, Robert "Robb" Bragg, Paula Bragg and Lora Bragg, all of the home; his mother of 1402 E. Jefferson and two sisters, Nadine Templeman of Memphis and Mrs. Maynard (Shirley) Cathell of Collinsville, Ill.
---He was preceded in death by his father in January 1968.
---Mr. Bragg was reared in Kirksville where he received his education. He was employed at Palace Bakery and Kanan Drug. In 1954 he was elected as Circuit Clerk and has held that office since that time.
---Mrs. Bragg was a veteran of World War II. He served with the United States Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater and received the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.
---He was a past commander of the American Legion and past president of the Lions Club. He was a member of the D.A.V., the V.F.W., Adair Lodge No. 366, Chapter, Council, Commandry and Molia Shrine. He was also a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose.
---He was a member of the First Christian Church where he served as treasurer of the Men's Class.
---The body is at the Davis Funeral Home where Masonic services will be held Wednesday evening at 7:30.
---Funeral services will be held Thursday, afternoon at two o'clock in the First Christian Church. The Rev. William Davidson, pastor of the church and the Rev. Harold Scott, pastor of the Assembly of God Church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Highland Park cemetery with military services at the graveside.
