Roman Catholic Saint. A pre-congregation martyr, almost nothing is known of her save the manner of her death. She was said to have been held as a slave by a soldier at Nicomedia in Asia Minor who wanted to make her his mistress. When she resisted, citing her faith, he was said to have stabbed her to death. In iconic art she is portrayed as a stabbing victim. She is the patron saint of maids.
