Glenn married Shirley Essex and together they had two children.
Judy Myers & James Robert 'Jim' Myers.

After they divorced he remarried and had a daughter with this wife, the daughter's name is Janice Myers.

Glenn was married at the time of his death to Joann (Lynch) Myers. She is buried in White Chapel Cemetery near Canton, IL.

Glenn served in the Marines during World War II. He was with the first wave of men to hit the beach at Iwo Gima. He was wounded in battle and recieved a Purple Heart among other commendations, medals and ribbons.

Glenn worked at Caterpillar in Canton, Illinois and retired from there.

After his retirement he loved nothing better than to hook up his 5th wheel camper, hop in his truck and head out. He and his wife, Joann, could be anywhere, you never knew where the next postcard would be from. Maybe Texas, maybe Florida. He loved to fish and there would always be pictures of his latest 'catch' included in letters from them.

One of my favorite pictures of him and Joann is of the two of them in shorts, tank tops and goofy straw hats holding a stringer of fish between them... and such smiles, like two kids!!

The Little Ship

I stood watching as the little ship sailed out to sea.
The setting sun tinted his white sails with a golden light and as he disappeared from sight a voice at my side whispered, "He is gone".

But the sea was a narrow one. On the farther shore a little band of friends had gathered to watch and wait in happy expectation. Suddenly they caught sight of the tiny sail and at the very moment when my companion had whispered, "He is gone" a glad shout went up in joyous welcome, "Here he comes!"

Sunshine fades and shadows fall,
But memories of you outlast them all.
Unseen, unheard, you're always near,
Still loved, still missed, still very dear.
