---James Hayward Duffie, 93, of 1312 East Alexander, passed away Monday (September 7, 1987) in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
---Born July 30, 1894 in Adair County, he was the son of Abe Gardner and Ella M. Hayward Duffie. On August 8, 1926 he married Helen Clark who survives. Also surviving are one son, Roy Duffie of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; two granddaughters, Judith Ann Duffie of Lyman, South Carolina and Patricia Carol Seymore of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; three great-grandchildren, Jason, Shari and Sonya Seymore, all of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and one sister, Alice Warren of Marshall.
---He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant daughter; two sisters, Ruth Novinger and Grace Warren and four brothers, Wilford Duffie, Charles Duffie, Milton Duffie and Warren Duffie.
---Mr. Duffie was a life-long resident of Adair County. He taught school at Sperry, Willmathsville and Radical Ridge. He was also a dairy farmer for several years before his retirement in 1966. At that time he moved to Kirksville to make his home.
---During World War I, Mr. Duffie served with the United States Army.
---He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and MacDougall-Lowe Post No. 20, American Legion.
---Funeral services will be held at two o'clock Friday afternoon (September 11, 1987) in the chapel of the Fohn Funeral Home. The Rev. David Webster will conduct the services. Burial will be in Maple Hills cemetery with military rites at the graveside.
---After noon Thursday (September 10, 1987) friends may call at Fohn Funeral Home.
---The family will receive friends from six to eight o'clock Thursday evening in the funeral chapel.
---Those who wish may make contributions to the First United Methodist Church. Contributions may be sent to our left at Fohn Funeral Home.
