GEORGE DAUGHERTY
---George W. Daugherty, a brother of John L. Daugherty of La Plata and who formerly lived in this community, died at his home in Macon Saturday after a several months illness of heart trouble.
---His funeral services were held at Macon Monday afternoon at 2:30 at the First Baptist Church by Rev. S.W. Driggers, assisted by Rev. L.R. Mahard. Burial was in Oakwood cemetery.
---Mr. Daugherty was born July 27, 1887, a son of W.W. and Olive Daugherty. He was married to Miss Grace Moody, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nick M. Moody, November 25, 1919.
---He was a member of the Presbyterian Church having united with the body when he was nineteen years old.
---During the World War Mr. Daugherty was one of the first to enlist. He went to Camp Funston with the first contingent of Randolph County soldiers and after training there with the First Regiment, went overseas where he served for more than two years.
---He was a graduate of Missouri Valley College, a member and Past Exalted Ruler of Macon Lodge No. 999 B.P.O.C. and a member of the American Legion.
---Besides his widow and her parents, Mr. Daugherty is also survived by two sisters and one brother, Mrs. Nancy Buck of Mendon, Mrs. Ruth Dull of Wyaconda and John L. Daugherty of La Plata.
---He had been engaged in several lines of work and was efficiently fitted for each endeavor he undertook. He was of a pleasing disposition and quick to make and hold friends. Mr. Daugherty had a host of good personal friends who will mourn at his seemingly untimely death.
---His parents and a sister and brother have preceded him in death.
