---Fred Brokaw of Wilson Township, died in France recently, according to a telegram received Saturday by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H.R. Brokaw.
---The message stated that death was due to disease. He is twenty-five years old and was drafted into service July 17, 1918.
---He is survived by his sorrowing parents and three brothers.

---The sad news arrived here Friday night that another soldier boy had bravely given his life for his country. Fred Brokaw, the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Brokaw was born in Henry County, Illinois on August 22, 1892 and died October 9, 1918 of acute labor pneumonia.
---He gave his heart to God in 1908 and joined the Methodist Episcopal Church at Gibbs.
---He was called to the colors July 17 and sailed the last of September.
---He is survived by his father and mother and three brothers, Harold, Albert and Edward, the latter being stationed at Camp Jackson, besides a host of other relatives and friends.
