Herschel Crawford married Edna Scott on June 1, 1944 and they moved to the Atlanta Community where Herschel had a farm. He was a Republican. In the Atlanta Community the Crawfords became 4-H leaders for the Home Pioneer club and served for 26 years and enjoyed every minute of it. Herschel and Edna were active members of the Presbyterian Church in LaPlata.

---Herschel Goodding Crawford, 86, of Macon died Wednesday evening (May 14, 1986) at the Samaritan Hospital in Macon.
---The son of Al J. and Frances (Goodding) Crawford, he was born April 30, 1900 in Atlanta. On June 1, 1944 at Kansas City, he married Edna Scott who survives.
---Also surviving are a brother Herman H. Crawford of Salem, Mo. and a sister, Mrs. Gordon (Maurine) Romjue of Atlanta.
---Mr. Crawford was a member of the La Plata Presbyterian Church where he was the ruling elder for a number of years. He also was a member of the Farm Bureau and a county agent for Scotland and Morgan counties for several years. Mr. Crawford served with the U.S. Army in World War I.
---Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday (May 17, 1986) at the La Plata Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Tim McClain officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Tabor Cemetery, east of Atlanta. Bearers were Frederick Spencer, John Elsea, Robert Baker, Duane Turner, Kent Scott and LeRoy Huff. The body is at the Travis Funeral Home, La Plata.
